Chelsea Cool Pursuit of Harry Maguire

Looks like Chelsea have withdrawn their interest in Harry Maguire after Blues head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, switched gears.

The 30-year-old defender has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United, seeing only 16 appearances from 31 games across all competitions during the 2022/23 season. Red Devils coach, Erik ten Hag, has shown a greater preference for Maguire’s team-mates, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, as his defence line.

Although Maguire’s talents have been in high demand, especially during a time when Chelsea are on the prowl for a stronger defensive arsenal, Pochettino has reportedly changed his mind and is looking to reel back in Marc Guehi.

The 23-year-old centre-back previously played for the Blues for two years in 2019, but is currently sporting a Crystal Palace shirt.

Despite losing the captaincy last Sunday, 16 July, adding yet another stroke of bad luck heaps up on his lap, Maguire is rumoured to be in the crosshairs of West Ham United and Newcastle United. The continued interest offers a lifeline for the embattled footballer as his time at Old Trafford draws to a close.
